On December 6, 2018 The Shell GameChangerTM Accelerator Powered by NREL (GCxN) announced that EGM has been selected as one of four companies to participate in the program’s inaugural cohort following an extensive selection process.
EGM is one of only four companies selected globally. In its Press release, GCxN noted that EGM was selected for its innovations in developing technologies designed to enable the energy grid of the future through long-term energy storage and controls.
GCxN is a new multimillion-dollar, multiyear program developed in collaboration between Shell GameChanger and the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) focused on discovering and advancing emerging clean technologies with the potential to dramatically alter the future global energy landscape. The selection process is a referral based with NREL itself referring EGM for participation.
As a benefit of participation in the invitation-only program, EGM will receive up to $250,000 in non-dilutive funding to test, validate and advance its technologies with a network of experts from NREL and the Shell GameChanger program.
Following the announcement, a special event was held in Colorado, U.S. on January 16, 2019, where the selected companies were officially awarded the selection package.
Taking part in the GCxN program will enable EGM to accelerate its recent entrance to the U.S, market, ensuring it addresses the most burning topics with the best technical solutions.
EGM’s Meta-AlertTM system that stood at the heart of EGM’s selection provides a whole grid probing system, from its power source through transmission lines, all the way to the medium voltage distribution infrastructure. The system processes the collected big-data and produces usable insight, which enables optimal grid management and operation, to address issues such as distributed energy resources (DER) integration, grid proactive and reactive maintenance, sophisticated energy trade programs, and EV infrastructure.
