Technical Sales Director
Role Description
This is a full-time remote sales role for a Technical Sales Manager.
Must have a minimum of 10 years “Hands On” electric transmission or distribution utility experience.
This role requires deep domain expertise to translate “tech jargon” into clear business value for clients.
Core Responsibilities
- Consultative Selling: Identifying client challenges through “discovery” questions and proposing EGM’s tailored grid solutions.
- Technical Presentations: Leading product demonstrations, explaining complex features simply, and acting as a technical subject-matter expert during the sales cycle.
- Relationship Management: Building long-term partnerships with operators, reliability and planning engineers, and standards to ensure proposed solutions are feasible and effective.
- Sales Lifecycle Management: Working directly with sales will handle leads, solution negotiation, and post-sale follow-ups to ensure customer satisfaction.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Technical Aptitude: Thorough understanding of the electric utility industry from the substation to the meter (e.g., software, automation, and operational systems).
- Communication: Strong active listening and presentation skills to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Analyzing a customer’s specific needs to recommend the best possible product configuration or service.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, Masters preferred.
